That's another thing, I don't like the MicroSD being in a weird little "cage" under the battery. So much for swapping in cards while the phone is on.
One thing I forgot The screen size on the HD2 will completely spoil you to the point that no smaller screen will ever "do" for you. Be it just reading on the screen, or typing on it with two thumbs in landscape. It's just perfect. Ok perfect, I'm glad I posted here. You've been immensely helpful. The screen is actually the best for any Android phone to date, yes?
My HD2 friends are raving about it. It's the same screen the EVO and the Desire HD have, and both of those get pretty high praise It certainly is higher brightness and color than the one they put on it's retarded twin brother the HD7 Glad I could be of some help.
The G2 certainly does get higher bandwidth speeds in the "4G" areas, but I've never felt the HD2 was "slow" on the network either. Plus another annoyance? The trackpad on the G2 randomly "wakes up" and moves when I'm typing. I'd rather that space was used for screen. The only things that really attracted me to the G2 were the hardware keyboard and the 4G network.
I'm guessing by Also, I've been hearing some wonky things about the trackpad on the G2, apparently there's a proximity sensor inside that responds to shadows and movement. The keyboard isn't worth it. So I was a diehard keyboard man Then I owned the HD2 since release day. Now after owning the G2 for a few months? I honestly can say, that as long as I have my HD2, I won't be wanting a physical keyboard.
I regretted ever going over to the MyTouch3G because the soft keyboard was laggy as hell even when I used Swype. I guess that I'm just overly cautious about having yet another laggy phone. Also, I've been lurking in the HD2 dev forum for a while now. I've just been to afraid to post anything. It had started to show its age. I'm trying to decide between a G2 and the unannounced Nexus S.
Why did you opt for a G2 instead of waiting? What would you suggest? Thanks for your help. I would definetly go for the solid, metallic feel of the G2 rather than samsung's plasticky offering.
And I must say that after having seen a super amoled screen in person that they're not all they're cracked up to be unless oversaturated color is your thing. Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod. Its just one big SLOW crap plastic. I feel special having rhcp agree with me lolz Note to rhcp: I assume by "nexus crap" you mean the nexus S only right?
I was under the impression that the nexus one was a pretty good phone Just wanted to add that the G2 has a trackpad which does come in handy quite a lot for me, and don't forget the physical keyboard of course I don't THINK the nexus S has a physical keyboard, although no one's really sure of course Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
Yes the nexus S. The nexus 1 was a great phone and still is. Made by HTC! I just love the construction. Though I'm not sure how much of the keyboard I would use, I'd still like the fact that I have one. So, I might be making my trip to the Bell Store today! How do I get this thing unlocked?
Any websites you have in mind? I got my wife the G2 after I had already purchased the Vibrant for myself. The G2 is a way better phone. While it is true that benchmarks aren't the whole story they are at least a big part of the story. Benchmarks with the G2 are better out of the box. It is just works and works fast. Typical Vibrant user, "ROM x is the best ever all you have to do disable all of your running apps, wipe all of your data including SD cards, and stare at a black screen.
The battery life is amazing after that. I think the best it ever ran was with the setup in my signature. Still I wish I could talk my wife out the G2. He showed me benchmark tests, were the Vibrant beat the G2 out, albeit narrowly. He also showed me some stats, I asked him about the screen size and he mentioned a 3. I have seen the Vibrant and although I wish it had a qwerty keyboard, the onscreen buttons are large enough to easily message.
The slide texting can be turned on or off so if you are not use to it, you can feel more comfortable. The other thing I have noticed is look at the phones with qwerty keyboards. They are usually added due to the smaller style screen; G1, N1 and even the original Moto Droid. So I believe the battery life is better just on the get go.
This refers to the line, not the model. Each carrier is getting a different version of the same base model. The Galaxy S on verizon will have a qwerty keyboard, go grab that and then use it on the Tmo network, TMO does do that, was told that by tech manager today as I saw him use a Droid X on TMO with full use of all features. The really should have held it back for the 1ghz Dual core Processor, more onboard memory 32gb , better onboard graphics card NVIDIA m and kept the qwerty keyboard.
That would be a true flagship! Come Oct when I can upgrade, I will be going for the Vibrant. Sorry if I bounced around. Thanks for listening. Verizon is a cdma network. Tmo is GSM. You cant take a tmo or att phone and expect it to work on verizon or sprint.
Its physically impossible. The hardware isnt there. For me I am tired of all the back and forth crap and am moving my 4 phones to Sprint and the Evo…and that is just the way it is. My G1 was dunked in water a year into the contract… it lasted from then on, until july, when it fell and crippled the already water damaged screen.
But, within time about a week.. Be sure to get a gel case though! Vibrant no doubt is the best t-mobile phone out now. The G2 is at silver overall. But if you want a keyboard go for it. If you like the name mytouch… my because it sounds cooler.. Just remember 14 days! Test it out. I have a G1, and frankly, I love it. One thing that that has troubled me, is the need to do TWO master resets in 8 months on this phone. It just stopped taking incoming calls, giving notification tones for e-mails, text messages, etc.
The button for the home screen stopped working, and it would randomly delete apps and sometimes reintroduce them! A reset fixed this issue both times, but it IS a pain in the ass. If indeed the keyboard is like the one on the Mytouch Slide, then I will probably go with the Vibrant.
Just went from a my touch to a samsung vibrant. I luv the screen andfeatures. But know I hear so much hype about the whole gps ect….. The only real problem I have is the battery goes really quick. Any suggestions please. I saw both phones today. The G2 looks prettier and feels sexier but is heavy.
The vibrant is light but is plasticy. The Keyboard is really nice but adds weight and mechanical assembly. The G2 has Droid2. The G2 is twice as fast but some say Vibrant will be as fast after the OS upgrade. The GPU in the vibrant is much better but eats battery. The file system on the G2 is more efficient. The Vibrant support the new T-mobile signal waves, forgot what they are called. Adds upload and download speed. G2 has flash and front camera. Vibrant has no flash on it. I really am bothered by the weight of the G2 though.
I would have jumped on the G2 since it has a keyboard another big issue for me. However the G2 is just too heavy and fat to place in a pocket. I am a guy and I wear T-shirts and jeans all the time. I hate baggy Jeans. So for me to store the G2 while on the move in my pockets is not going to work. With a big saggy bulge in my front or back pocket is not acceptable either way. Probably the ladies will be happy with the G2 since they store all their crap in hand bags, specially these days when they carry bags that can swallow swimming pools.
I have a G1 which is only a ounce lighter than the g2 and I have no problem with weight or size while wearing skinny jeans even. The Vibrant has serious flaws with its GPS, and although Samsung has released a fix for this recently, the GPS still bounces around the map and is not completely fixed.
Samsung needs to fix this hardware issue before it ships more phones out to unsuspecting consumers, and T-Mobile should be more professional and treat its customers with more respect by alerting them of this GPS issue on the Samsung Vibrant. Fred Coulter. Vibrant is also a T-Mobile phone.
Our wi-fi network makes by Blackberry work just fine. It has wifi, no UMA though. The Hammer. G1 user waitin for G2. Pretty sure the Avatar movie is on the included SD card no? Avatar is on the SD card. Saw this yesterday, kind of disappointed by the screen size. Is that still not corrected?
That cannot be correct…. Its not, it should be TMO top phone already looks outdated compared to the Evo aS far as its features and looks. Back again. Bruce Banner. David, Andrew, and Kickstar please block this ass wipe from the site. Lame phone. Actually, I was wondering the same thing. These are benchmarks with the GPU, not cpu. G-2 is worth taking a 2 week test drive and seeing how it flies. Anyone know if the G2 will have a TV out option like the Vibrant via the 3.
Then you remember wrong. I pick G2. The Sleeve. Mine will tether anyway…rooting FTW! No Problem.. Im glad the link helped.. Acacia Strain. Paying less?
